Madrid, October 28, 2020. The director of the National Association of Energy Services Companies (ANESE), Carlos Ballesteros, has presented Madrid Platform this morning to members of his association. ANESE is at the forefront of investment in energy savings and efficiency.
Luis Cabrera, president of ANESE opened the event before handing over to the José Luis Moreno, who heads the city’s Economics, Innovation and Employment Department, and Carlos Morales, Director General of Madrid Platform and Chairman of mshglobal, an international consulting firm. Together they outlined how Madrid Platform is being planned as an international business HUB for Ibero-America and an active agent in the pursuit of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the 2030 agenda.
Madrid Platform is envisaged as a new way of doing business and of connecting companies across borders and sectors. The project seeks to bring together leading experts to hear and explore their views on the future of companies, institutions and society as a whole, as we embrace the so-called “new normal”, while at the same time creating synergies between SMEs in Europe and Latin America at a time of social distancing. To further the Platform’s aims, the organization is preparing a mixed-format event (physical and virtual) for May 2021. The goal is to foster a conversation among experts and leading players around the main issues of interest on the global agenda and, specifically, aspects that directly affect Ibero-American countries.
During the presentation of the project by Madrid’s City Council on October 7 (read report), the Deputy Mayor, Begoña Villacís, explained that the project “was already part of the City Council’s reactivation strategy” and that Madrid “needs to become the best city in the world to work in” and become a benchmark for the generation of business ideas in the new post-COVID-19 business world.
Today, the Director General of Madrid Platform, Carlos Morales, thanked ANESE for its support before highlighting that the association “is a strategic partner of Madrid Platform in the development of the project in matters of ecological transition.” He then personally invited ANESEs members to participate in the 3,500 meetings that are expected to be held over the course of the event and which, by all estimates, will have a success rate of more than 60% in terms of business outcomes”.
Meanwhile, the Managing Director of Madrid’s Economy, Innovation and Employment department, José Luis Moreno, spoke of the City Council’s enthusuiasm for the event and confirmed that it will be an annual gathering and part of the capital’s Madrid Futuro strategy.
Finally, the President of ANESE, Luis Cabrera, summed up the morning, saying: “the ecological transition is part of the very DNA of our association. We’re here to foster and promote business for our associates. There can be no better way of doing that than by partnering with Madrid Platform.”
Carlos Morales, Director of Madrid Platform, thanked ANESE for its support which will enable all involved to jointly promote the sustainable development goals set by the UN. He explained that agreements had already been signed with all European chambers of commerce to ensure ANESE members gained greater exposure outside Spain. “The first to sign was the Danish chamber,” he said, with the Danes expressing interest in creating synergies with Latin America through the Spanish capital.
ANESE’s director Carlos Ballesteros, took the opportunity to highlight that “the agreement between both entities is very beneficial for our associates, especially the meetings that will take place and that will be key to opening new doors to do business. Thanks to this agreement, all our associates will now be bale to avail of these meetings.”
